Beyondly’s Fund for Change Supports Local Climate Action Towards Net Zero
Zero Carbon Harrogate are a registered charity dedicated to making Harrogate District a net zero carbon community by 2030 - empowering the community to take meaningful climate action through education, engagement, and collaboration with organisations, political decision makers and residents of the Harrogate area.
In 2025, Beyondly were proud to provide a grant of £12,000 to Zero Carbon Harrogate. Zero Carbon Harrogate are just one of the charities supported through Beyondly’s Fund for Change initiative – a commitment to donating 5% of our net profit to selected charities and community projects delivering significant impact on both the planet and society.
Beyondly’s funding has allowed Zero Carbon Harrogate to extend the contract of their Climate Action Coordinator. This vital role is responsible for the delivery of Zero Carbon Harrogate’s three-year Educate, Engage, Encourage programme, helping to grow the charity’s net-zero initiatives and impact across the environment and wellbeing of the community.
Sunita Sounder, Zero Carbon Harrogate’s Climate Action Coordinator, has already had a remarkable impact across the community, hosting a high-profile visit from York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority Mayor, David Skaith. The event provided the valuable opportunity to discuss the crucial topic of sustainable travel in the Harrogate area; from what initiatives are already in place, stakeholder engagement and collaboration, and the experiences and needs of the local community.
Sunita’s post has also allowed Zero Carbon Harrogate to expand their community engagement work. Since October, Sunita has secured a number of brilliant partnerships with a network of sustainable transport groups. This has allowed Zero Carbon Harrogate to complete a significant multi-partner National Lottery Climate Action submission for funding towards their ‘Moving Ahead Together’ modal shift project that will tackle high emission levels in the area. The charity has also partnered with Harrogate Fair Trade Shop on a funding bid that will provide Zero Carbon Harrogate with the ability to further their engagement and awareness in the area through a street event space.
Sunita has also grown Zero Carbon Harrogate’s communications and digital platforms, strengthening their online presence and community engagement. Since overseeing of the delivery of the monthly newsletter and social media, Sunita has increased the charity’s number of followers, impressions, and average engagement rate notably.
Beyondly is delighted to support the vital work Zero Carbon Harrogate are doing for our planet and society, by educating and inspiring the local community and stakeholders on the importance of our collective effort towards net zero.
