Consultation on EU Batteries labelling draft regulation: Submit your feedback

The European Commission is seeking feedback on its EU Batteries labelling draft implementing regulation ahead of finalisation and publication.

The Batteries Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 (EUBR) lays out the need for:

  • Carbon footprint of certain battery formats (Article 7)
  • Harmonised battery labelling (Article 13)

Harmonised labelling helps to create a common and recognised style of labels to ensure that:

  • batteries conform to the regulation, and
  • purchasers and consumers can make educated decisions on sustainability and lifespan of batteries on a level playing field.

As a reminder, the UK Government is currently consulting industry on adopting the EUBR wholesale across the UK due to its implementation in Northern Ireland*. These labelling requirements under the EUBR are mandatory for batteries placed on the market in the EU and will come into effect from 18.08.26. However, there is the potential that these regulations and labelling requirements will be mandatory across the whole of the UK in the future.

If you are a Beyondly member, we encourage you to share your views with The Commission on the draft act, which is open for feedback until 26.01.26. As always, your Account Manager is on hand if you have any questions.

Summary of key takeaways

  • Applicability: Batteries placed on the market within the European Union
  • Feedback period: 15 December 2025 to 26 January 2026
  • Have your say: Batteries – labelling (new rules)

Beyondly is here to help

Environmental policy continues to shift as global priorities accelerate the transition towards a more sustainable, circular economy. At Beyondly, we stay close to these changes, keeping our members up to date on the regulations and developments that matter most. Through clear, timely insight, we help you navigate complexity and make informed decisions with confidence in an evolving environmental landscape.

*The EUBR is included in the Windsor Protocol and is therefore applicable in Northern Ireland. We are liaising with Daera to clarify if batteries placed on the market in NI are obligated under these labelling requirements and will amend our communications when we have more information.
